A Little Inspiration | #3

Inspo #3
*all images sourced via Pinterest

After reading Gem's column in Company about DIY ink, tattoos have been playing a little on my mind. Love them or hate them, they're here to stay and the taboo about having one seems to be slowly disappearing. I personally don't have one. Do I want one? Kinda...Will I get one? Maybe one day, I don't know - if I'm honest stubbing my toe makes my eyes water so my pain threshold is probably not up for it.
In the meantime I can admire my friends who have been brave enough to go under the tattooist's needle, fawn over other bloggers who have some really pretty tattoos themselves and pin pretty pictures of them. If I ever did go in for the ink, I'm more partial to getting a quote from a favourite book done than anything fancy, though some of the line art tattoo illustrations like the ones above that I've seen floating around are just stunning.

What about you guys? Thoughts on getting inked. Do you have a tattoo yourselves?

A Little Bit Lovely | Alice + Olivia Resort 2014

Alice+Olivia-Resort-2014-header
As if I didn’t need any further reason to love Alice + Olivia, they had to go and bring out this bundle of awesome for their Resort 2014 collection.
It’s whimsical, feminine, a little nautical, and oh so Summer-y. A little bit twee but topped with a generous helping of retro details, Stacey Bendet’s inspiration behind the collection of "a girl who leaves boarding school and stays with her aunt in an English countryside manor for that pivotal summer where she transforms into a woman…” pretty much sums up all you need to know about this.

Personal favourites from the collection include the stunning tea dress with blue pattern lace, the dark navy, pleated midi skirt, and the spotted crop top/slim black trouser combo…but let’s be real, I would happily have every single look added to my wardrobe tomorrow if I could.

3 ladies who I want wearing it…Taylor Swift, Diana Agron, Zooey Deschanel

Two Weeks #4

So I'm currently sat on my bed writing this listening to McFLY and Birdy, having finished up Father's day lunch with the fam - Happy Father's Day Dad! Also went for a pretty good run this morning - it's getting easier, still baby steps though - and now have a whole week off from work to look forward to. To say the past two weeks have been hectic is perhaps a bit of an understatement. With an office move at my placement, plus the general hectic-ness of said placement, and the impending deadline of handing in my dissertation proposal for next year (I hit the submit button last Thursday, eep!) I've been getting home and collapsing to sleep most days. It's absolutely mental thinking I only have about 2 and a half months left of this internship - which sounds like forever but it speeding by far too quickly for my liking. It's not nice thinking about leaving already but hard considering I need to starting work out what I need to train my replacement on...*sad face*.
But enough of sad things. With the Tony Award excitement of last Sunday, the burst of Summer sunshine - which seems to have disappeared, come back! - and the promise of meet ups with old friends now back from Uni, some of whom I haven't seen in months, I'm up for some R&R this week. Which, let's be honest, will probably involve me sat on my bed like right now writing blog posts and hitting repeat on the latest Joe Brook album. Ah a blogger's life for me =)

French Allure | Isabel Marant x H&M A/W 13 collaboration

We may be in the middle of June but there something coming up in Autumn for fans of Parisian chic and H&M. French fashion designer Isabel Marant has announced that they will be the next big name joining forces with the high-street chain this November for women, teenagers and (for the first time) men.

If the designer's previous collections are anything to go by, this is definitely something to get excited about. A mix of sport-lux and urban all topped with a healthy helping of European elegance and timeless cuts, Isabel Marant's looks always look so effortless to wear. I'm personally hoping for some of her box style jackets, as well as some boho-rock jeans from her Fall ready-to-wear '13 collection - all with an affordable H&M price tag attached this time!

Is anyone else as pumped about this collab as I am?

Feet First | Lusting Over Statement Heels

statement-designer-heels

It's always easy to reach for those staple simple heels on a night out but there's a change a-foot (har de har har). Statement shoes are everywhere at the moment and are a welcome change from the standard black/navy/cream you would normally reach for on a night out. I know I recently did two posts on minimalism, but teaming these with a simplistic outfit would be a match made in heaven.
Full of amazing architectural details, prints and loud colours, I found these lovely pairs on Net-A-Porter. Right now I'm leaning towards the Sophia Webster and Givenchy pairs, I think it's the strap details on both of them so very cool.

Thoughts on statement heels? Yay or nay?
