This Week...MAMBO little miss Frugalista!!
0.1 Thought I'd post a little preview of the outfit I wore to the last day of London Fashion Weekend today! I took the photo last night and ended up changing the belt and necklace. I've just gotten back (which is why this post is so late) and will work on a fuller post this week. I have lots of photos and the runway looks were incredibly beautiful. Oh and I know the Oscars are on tonight (at like 2am UK time or something) I'm planning my Oscar posts for later in the week too.

Fashion and Films - Best Costume Design Nominations Oscars 2011
As the countdown is so close to this year's Oscars, I thought I'd look at a lest forgotten category, Best Costume Design. Below are this year's contenders....
Alice in Wonderland – Colleen Atwood
In true Tim Burton fashion, the designs for Alice in Wonderland were both delightfully odd and beautifully crafted. From Alice’s period style dresses, to the whimsical outfits worn by the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) and Tweedle Dee & Dum (Matt Lucas), and not forgetting the Red and White Queens (Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway).

Wishlist Item....
Fanfare feather print dress
$48 from ShopCuffs
I'm so happy I promised to stop buying striped clothing this year, it means I can love and appreciate clothes like this. I have a little obsession with the batwing fit for tops/dresses because not only do they look great but they cover any stomach overspill and are mega comfy, so I'm loving the sleeves on this dress. Couple that with this great print [which you can see a bit better below] and it definitely is a worthy addition to the wishlist.

Wishlist Item....
Trenchcoat with leather bound sleeves
Burberry Prorsum
£2395 from Burberry UK
And the winner of most expensive item of clothing on my Wishlist goes to....*drumroll* Christopher Bailey and this hot off the press Burberry trench. I literally just finished watching the live stream of Burberry Prorsum's A/W11 collection online and can I just say it was so great. The collection went online immediately as the show wrapped up with many of the new looks featured large puff sleeves all in an array of colours, in tartan and fur lined. The show itself ended with models walking down the runway under fake snow all sporting clear tailored capes. It looked so magical!
But as much as I love the brand experimenting with new shapes and colours, I love it when they come back to what they're known for. And that to me is this trench. Simple, clean and oh so chic.
Bravo Burberry! Now to find a spare £2k to buy it ;)

This Week...Busy times, Frugal Feb updates and reading lists
0.1 Another quick update. It's been an unbelievable busy few days at Uni and I've also been doing full days at work all weekend. I fear there's no respite for this hectic schedule as those of you who follow me on Twitter will know (2 major presentations to prepare for in about 3 weeks O_O) I've had a lot on my mind in addition to blogging. Saying this I am proud I managed to get all my Brits, BAFTA (part 1 and part 2) and Grammy Awards (part 1 and part 2) posts out, all of which I'm pretty happy with! Now it's just the lead in to the Oscars, EXCITEMENT!
0.2 In addition to reading for Uni, I've also been trying to get back into reading in general. Many on my bucket list are re-reads - The Perks of Being a Wallflower (as seen in the photo above) by Steph Chbosky, The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich, Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen of course - but others I've never actually finished/started. They were kinda just sat festering on my shelves looking at me just screaming "Read Me!", so I thought in keeping with the Frugal Feb pledge not to splurge on any new books I'm gonna get stuck into these books.

- - The Gospel According to Judas by Simon Mawer
- - Labyrinth by Kate Masse
- - Glamour by Louise Bagshawe
- - And War of the Worlds by HG Wells (which I always start in the summer, but always fail to carry on after two chapters)

Wishlist Item....
Marc by Marc Jacobs
Flat rubber wellington boots
£97.50 from TheOutnet
It's mid-February and the Spring showers season is in full swing. Just as I was getting excited about splashing out on a pair of summer espadrilles at the end of the month and finally ditching my tights, sudden downpours of rain just wash those thoughts all away. So these Marc by Marc Jacobs wellies are definitely lifting my mood slightly. And I love the combat boot imprint and in my favourite colour. Bring on the downpours I say!!

The Brit Awards 2011 fashion round up - Music and Fashion
I love the Brits. It's the perfect marriage of music and fashion, and feels more informal than the Grammy's so the fashion is always way more fun. And though the boys seemed to reign supreme when it came to winning awards, the girls were out in full force....
Two of my favourite looks from the awards were from Rihanna and Ellie Goulding. Rihanna's had a fantastic week on the red carpet with the Grammy's this week too and she brought colour to the red carpet in a Dior gown. Ellie filled the Florence Welch shaped hole in my heart at the event in a stunning ethereal Vivienne Westwood dress.

The Grammy Awards fashion round up - Golden Girls and Diva's
The Grammy's may be a perfect opportunity to break the boundaries of fashion but it's also showcase night for all the Diva's of the music industry. Here were the best of the rest...
Two sides of the spectrum. My girl Florence Welch channeling her inner white swan in Givenchy Couture and Jennifer Lopez in supers-short, super sexy Pucci mini dress. I've seen some people hatin' on Florence's look but I think it fits perfectly with her indie-fairy queen style. And as for J-Lo? I don't think anyone could have looked any more like the Diva she is than she did at the Grammys.

The Grammy Awards 2011 fashion round up - The Weird and Wonderful
The Grammy's hit just as the BAFTA's aftershow parties were kicking into full swing - seriously I hate awards show clashses!! Never the less the Oscars of the music industry did not dissappoint for big, bold, red carpet fashion.
This year the looks were more outlandish than ever....
Good lord where do I start? First there was her entrance to the Grammy’s in the first place. The Queen of weird arrived carried by her half naked minions in a giant egg resembling those toy Alien pods you bought in the 90’s. Well, you can’t say she doesn’t know how to get the world talking. Her stage outfit, revealed after hatching from said egg/pod/thing, was a skin tight (). I’m always in two minds about Gaga’s outfits. One side of me wants to completely hate what she wears and write her off as someone who’s just a little bit looney, but the other part of me itches to see just what she’ll do next (my bet is a see-through jewelled bodysuit getting shot out of a cannon lol).

BAFTA Awards 2011 fashion round up - Don't rain on our parade! Part 2
Even more BAFTA looks to pour over! Have a gander at the best of the rest....
Two of my favourite people ever! Ms JK Rowling was glowing in snake print -woop for Slytherin - and Emma Stone on a winning streak on the red carpet, both by Lanvin. But again stupid rain soaking the bottom of Emma's dress :( makes me sad

BAFTA Awards 2011 fashion round up - Don't rain on our parade! Part 1
The weather is wet and depressing in the UK at the moment, but as ever a bit of rain isn't gonna stop the BAFTA Awards. There's some great looks at the event and for most of the actresses a dry run for the Oscars.
Here's some of the best looks...
Here's some of the best looks...
The two standouts looks from the awards were definitely Emma Watson and Thandie Newton. Thandie brought some sunshine to the awards in a gorgeous Monique Lhuillier gown, while Emma opted for an equally stunning Valentino Couture dress. It's such a shame the rain soaked the bottom of the dresses though...stupid British weather.

This Week...Quick updates, Valentines Day and Awards show explosion!
0.1 Just a quick update today, I'm currently writing this while watching the BAFTA's on TV and I'm already seeing so many great looks (and may I say most from British actresses, oh yeah :D) It's been a hectic week with Uni (too much reading and work already after 2 weeks!) and with 3 awards shows this weekend I can see it's gonna be tough to keep up so bear with me!

If I went to fashion week...
I recently read this fabulous post by Andrea from ImpetuousStyle about what the Vogue fashion team take as their fashion week survival kits, pretty much like an up market "What's in your handbag?" feature.
Inspired by the photos taken she came up with her own version.
And now inspired by her I've decided to do one myself. I present my hypothetical "What's in my handbag for fashion week?"
1. An old vintage messenger bag from my mum, I think she bought it in the early 90's. I love it to pieces and it's pretty much goes with everything I own.
2. My favourite necklace of the moment.
3. I was have never been - and don't know if I ever will be - a lipstick/lipgloss girl. So I focus on my eyes. My black Boots natural collection eyeliner pencil and Maybelline mascara are all I need.
4. I reckon fashion week would be a perfect time to fill out my parchment notebook I've had for years. It's so pretty I've been too scared to write anything in it yet.
5. My lovely Accessorize purse from the January sales this year.
6. I can't live without my LG touch phone. It's no iPhone or iPad but it's just as good. Twitter, tumblr and FaceBook apps are my lifeline.
7. My trusty bug-eye sunglasses. I've had them for over 2 years now and they've never broken (knock on wood) and as I remember they were only about £4 - bargain!
8. I love these shoes. I've mentioned them before and confess...haven't worn them out yet! Shock horror! But I have technically broken them in by walking around the house, so they'd be perfect for running around between shows ;).
Oh and that a nail file next to the pen, I forgot to label it. And don't worry I won't go all Black Swan with it, I hate my nails getting to messy now I wear nail polish so carry one with me now through habit.
And as for food and drink, I'd imagine I'd be on a caffine overload with Pepsi and Starbucks coffee.
Now all I need now is to actually get invited to New York/London fashion week....
damn, ah well a girl can dream!

This week...A new term, becoming frugal and ballet dancers
Chunky knit cardigan, crop top, necklace - New Look
Vest top - Primark
Jeggings - ASDA
Boots - Mum's
0.1 So not only was it Chinese New Year this week - Kung Hei Fat Choi to you all - but it was the start of Semester 2 at University...erm. yay? So new timetables, new classes, new tutors/lecturers etc. Blogging around it has been fine - my wonderful 5 hour break on a Thursday is perfect for idea searching and drafting blogs out. And because I'm out everyday again, I'm able to put up new LookBook posts more often. Yay for organisation!

Celebrity Fashion Lines - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Celebrity fashion lines.
It feels like these days it's not a case of who's got one, but who hasn't?
I recently read on the Daily Mail website about the launch of 2KX the fashion line of pop stars JLS and Alexandra Burke.
Why? There's no doubt these two acts have great style and are very talented, but fashion designers?
When you hear about how competitive the fashion industry is for designers as it is, is it fair that these guys just get famous for some other reason and suddenly come out with a whole collection to sell when young fashion graduates are struggling to even get into the major design houses as assistants?

Wishlist Item....
House of Balfour, Orange crochet back shirt
$88 from PixieMarket.com
I'm now day 3 into Frugal Februrary and I'm actually alright with cutting back, but it is only day 3 and I still have 25 more days to go =|. Anywho, how great is this top! I don't usually find anything I like in Pixie Market, but the citrus organge instantly took my attention and I love the draping crochet back detail.
