Wishlist Item...Royal Wedding Edition!

Simeon Farrar
Royal Wedding Tote Bag
£85 from Liberty UK
I'll put my hand up...I'm loving this Royal Wedding fever and I'm a BRIT! I will admit one thing though, the merchandise and official memorabilia does go overboard. Which is why I'm loving this tote bag from Liberty. It's a little bit different and not as painful to use for the rest of the year, plus I love the play on the Sex Pistols reference. 'God save the King and his Queen' indeed.

Ginny Button Floral Chiffon Dress
£60 from Dahlia Fashion
Riding off the back of Coachella inspiration and looking enviously at Dita Von Teese's festival style I found this floral dress online. Not only is the styling of the dress on the website very 'Dita' but I love the ditsy floral print. It's looks like it could easily translate easily into the F/W season too!

Coachella 2011 inspiration + fashion round up

Coachella Festival 2011 was held in the sweltering California desert this weekend. And while I, like many others, were pining to join the sweaty crowds in front of Arcade Fire, Ellie Goulding and Mumford & Sons with all the rest of the hipsters at the festival I also made sure to keep an eye out for some fierce festival style.
Not only were the celebs out in force but festival street style got me excited for a summer, hopefully, working at least one music festival here in the UK.

This Week...Chillaxing

- Outfit photos: leggings, necklace, bracelets & black batwing top from New Look; rings TopShop; denim jacket from the back of my wardrobe -
0.1 I love the holidays! It's been so good to kick back from the stress of Uni and just do nothing but catch up with friends, plus the weather's not been too bad again, not so much today - boo!. I also thought I'd mention my denim jacket above. I guess I'll call it 'vintage' as it was bought in the early 90's...BUT it is actually my own from the 90's :D I wore it as a child and found it again about 2 years ago. I was so surprised it still fit, and despite the sleeves being a little short, still looks fabulous!
0.2 I've been having festival cravings ALL WEEK thanks to Cochella Festival in the US, not only are the bands playing awesome but the festival fashion season is well and truly in full swing *drool*. Fingers crossed I get my chance to volunteer at Beach Break this summer!
0.3 I mentioned my first trip into the world of DIY with my skater skirt last Friday. My next project will, hopefully, be modifying my black River Island dress into a playsuit/romper/jumpsuit/thingy. Dunno how well it'll turn out - it will required adding zips, an elasticated waist and changing the skirt to shorts =| - but wish me luck and I'll keep you posted!
0.4 Oh and it's 10 days till my birthday :D excited much?!

DIY #1 Primark Skirt to Summer Skater Skirt

2nd photo - primark skirt - New Look shoes and crop top
You may remember I bought this black Primark skirt a few weeks ago and wanted to DIY it.
Well, I finally got around to it!
The skirt itself when I bought it reached just above my knees (when worn high waisted) and each side draped just above my calves. It was a actually a decent skirt when I bought it, made in the thin cotton-y material I've been searching for for ages, but the shape and fit of it just wasn't suited to me. So I cut off the excess fabric on each side so the whole skirt length reached above my knees, hemmed it with my mum's sewing machine et voila! I wore the outfit above on Tuesday on a night out with some college friends back from Uni - the photo was taken at my friends house.
I'm not known for my skills in sewing so this is a huge achievement for me :) definitely given me the confidence to try out some more DIY. Who's knows? Watch this space.

Wishlist Item...

Terracotta Plain Playsuit
£35 from Miss Selfridge
The clouds may have returned today but I'm still in the mood for some Summer style. I may be heading to some festivals this Summer so am on the hunt for simple essentials that will be both stylish and practical. This Miss Selfridge playsuit will be perfect if there's any sunshine and then at the first sight of storm clouds will still look great under a jumper or hoodie. It can also be dressed up with heels on a night out with friends. Plus the colour is so lush! May need to add it to my birthday wishlist ;) - 15 days!

This Week...The sweet taste of freedom (oh and some other stuff happened too)

 - 2 summer outfit photos - my parent's wedding anniversary dinner - the blossom on the tree in my garden in the sunshine - new nail polish - catching up on learning how to play my Uke after months -

0.1 I freakin' love the sunshine ^_^ and I hope the weather's been just as nice for you guys. The healthy - and very unexpected - dose of wonderful vitamin D coupled with the prospect of Spring Break from Uni was enough to lift myself out of my blogging funk I've felt the past few weeks. Not to mention the fact some of my friends are back in town and ready to catch up.
I wore the outfit above on Wednesday, must say it was GREAT to dig out the denim shorts. I had a welcome day off to catch up with a friend back from Uni, watch Glee and eat pizza before we both chilled out for a gossip in my back garden in the sunshine. Even my horrendous 5 hour gap the next day at Uni went fairly quickly thanks to the sun and a few friends. All I gotta say is I'm praying it lasts - doubt it, it is the UK lol.
0.2 It was also my parents' 20th Wedding Anniversary this week, we feasted and I gave birth to a major food baby XD .
0.3 On a fashion related update, I finally found a pair of thin, black summer shorts in New Look this week. Which I've been looking for for literally months! Though it does leave me in the dilemma of whether to bring back the skirt I mentioned last week, that was gonna DIY, bring back said shorts or keep both and shorten the length of the skirt =| hmmmm.
0.4 I've been giving my nails a well deserved rest the past few weeks because they were in such back condition. But I got this coral coloured Boots Natural Collection nail polish last Friday and, well, it had to go on. I'm LOVING the shade and brightens up my mood everytime I look at my nails :)

Every colour of the rainbow...

Colour Blocking.
It's a trend that's been gracing the red carpet and catwalks for the past few months and now it well and truly working it's way into the highstreet and in people's wardrobes.

But you probably knew that. So why am I bringing it up?
Well, I've never big on colour in my own wardrobe, definitely more of a neutrals, pastels and matchy-matchy outfits kinda girl. Colour blocking looks fabulous on my fellow bloggers and I've seen some looks out and about looking fantastic on people. I don't quite have the courage to do it myself, but with all this summer sunshine the bright pops of orange, purple and greens have me running to the shops.

What about you guys? Any ideas in how to incorporate colour blocking into a colour-phobic's wardrobe?

Mara Hoffman
Embroidered bikini
Now that the sun is well and truly shining here in the UK and the Easter Holidays around the corner, I think it's high time to think ahead to a summer of lazy days at the park/beach/festivals. I realised the other day I don't actually own a decent bikini and spotted the one above online. I'm not one for bright colours when it comes to swimwear, so I tend to just go for plain black, but the subtle tribal print in this one is a great pop of colour for the summer and very on trend.

This Week...Hurry up holidays!!

3 Outfit posts photos - stupid grainy phone camera ¬_¬, new espadrilles (£6.99, New Look), May's edition of Elle magazine, lush hot chocolate I made my sister this week (was geekily proud of how lush it was lol), drapey skater skirt to be DIY-ed (£6, Primarni)

0.1 Slow week again in my world - what's new eh? - Uni's wrapping up for Easter, done most of my assessments and exams are up in May. I have 3 weeks of Easter holidays to fill this year. As well as over time for work I'm planning much needed catch ups with friends back from Uni, oh and um...revision (yay?). What was exciting was my new Elle subscription's started arriving - about time too - with the gorgeous Reese Witherspoon on the cover.
0.2 I did manage to pop into New Look - again what's new - for some new leggings since mine were falling apart. With it being pay weekend I couldn't resist getting some other goodies too, including my lovely new espadrilles. Been wanting them for a while and they fit like a dream AND don't cause my feet any pain. Score!
0.3 I'm also throwing myself into the world of DIY with a skirt I bought at Primarni - picture above - it was £6 and I want to attempt to turn into into a shorter skater skirt/or thin pair of summer shorts. Wish me luck!
p.s. sorry for the crappy quality of some of the photos today, my camera died on me before I did my outfit shots so had to use my phone instead.
