Wear the runway trend now...Minimalist maxis at Bottega Veneta

After having a good catch up on fashion news and collections, particularly ones from Resort 2013. The great thing about resort collections is that it's so easy to take inspiration from them and apply them this Summer.
One of the easiest to incorporate was from Bottega Veneta's collection. Like it or not maxi dresses have become a Summer staple and the chic minimalist style from Bottega Veneta is found everywhere. In terms of styling keep it simple like the maxi dress with metallic jewellery, sandals and wedges.

27.05.2012
What I wore: Denim shirt [H&M], T-shirt [Primark], Jeggings [New Look], Boots [M&S], Necklace [Accessorize]

Ok so maybe not a week update and that outfit is about 2 weeks old but it's been pretty hectic. I've been wrapping up Uni and heading to interviews and getting stressed over exams, which finished last Tuesday. I've technically finished 2nd year but am still on a last push for placement places, no luck yet =( so it's looking more and more likely that I'll be starting my final year at Uni come October (scary stuff).
In other news the UK seems to be in a May heatwave and since finishing exams it's been nice to actually enjoy the sunshine for once. Plus getting away from blogging for a little bit has actually been nice, a bit of a mini holiday if you will. Now that I'm back I'll hopefully be updating a little more regularly and the MTV Movie Awards are on next Sunday! Wahey! Also fingers crossed I'll get a phone upgrade on Tuesday so I can finally get on Instagram and a decent phone to keep all my social network bits up to date :)
Looking to possibly updating layouts and doing a decent blog clean up this Summer. I'm currently at 90 followers so anyone wanna bump me up to 100? Maybe a giveaway could be in store if I hit that?! ;)

Wishlist Item...

Floral -print stretch silk blend bodysuit
Dolce & Gabbana
£660 from Net-A-Porter

I hope all of my UK readers are enjoying this gloriously warm Summer weather! I know many of you guys will be hitting the beaches this weekend, if you haven't already, so I thought I bring you a little inspiration with some help from Dolce & Gabbana's S/S12 collection. Every piece that was paraded down the runway was emblazoned with bright and bold prints, none more so than this super Summer-y bodysuit.
It's probably not quite appropriate for Bournemouth beach trips but doesn't it just scream Miami poolside glamour? It's also pretty perfect for those of us who aren't quite ready to bare all in this heat. Plus it can also be teamed effortlessly with maxi skirts, or even tucked into shorts, for easy poolside to street style chic.

Superhero Style

Gwyneth Paltrow, Florence Welch, Fan Bingbing, Lana Del Rey & Bianca D'adda

There's a strange trend floating around Hollywood and fashion circles. Is it the influence of the cold weather? Have all these stars been inspired by superhero mega hit The Avengers? Or is this fashion's newest way to set yourself apart from the crowd?
Whatever the reason the cape seems to be here to stay. From Hollywood starlets to alternative musicians alike the cape everyone seems to be channelling their inner Superman (or in this case Superwoman). Most recently Fan Bingbing wowed the Cannes crowd in a gorgeous 'Elie Saab Couture' gown and matching cape.
The F/W 2012 runways have been alight with capes too, from Dolce & Gabbana to Elie Saab
D&G, Valentino, D&G, Marni, Elie Saab

So keep an eye out once the shops start stocking for Autumn, you may find yourself wrapped up in some serious fabric. But don't shy away, embrace your inner Super hero!

One to watch: Elizabeth Banks

Now that all the glitz and hype around the Met Gala this week has calmed down a little bit, I thought I'd concentrate my eye on one lady who really captured my attention at the event.
Elizabeth Banks stormed the event in dividing opinions in a bold Mary Katrantzou gown. For many it was too much, but I expected no less from Ms Banks.
Pre-2012/2011 Elizabeth Banks was on my radar for two things, her comedic turns in Scrubs/30 Rock and her recurring roles in Rom-Coms and silly Comedies like 'Definitely, Maybe', 'Role Models' and 'Zack and Miri make a porno'.
This year she burst in the forefront of the fashion pack after her impressive run during The Hunger Games press tour. Looking back at her red carpet choices, there's definitely no static formula. She loves colour, she isn't afraid of bold prints and very much embraces textures and daring architecture. In short she's a fashion chameleon.
When it comes to her side walk style, she's much slicker and chic-er, favouring a dark palette of colours and classic accessories. But that doesn't make her boring. Whether in Versace or Marc Jacobs you know she'll work her look and is for sure someone you want to keep an eye out for (especially with two more Hunger Games movies to come! Yay more press tours!).

Wishlist Item[s]...One Vintage

If there's one brand that always catches my eye when browsing through Net-A-Porter it's One Vintage. The collections are masterminded by former Paul & Joe UK partner Marcella Symons', who with her team of seamstresses reworks vintage pieces and fabrics.
The end result are amazing unique pieces with a hint of old school glamour. Their dresses are especially gorgeous, most have a very 40's movie siren feel about them. Though the fabrics and trims are all sourced from the past century, every piece could easily fit into a 21st Century wardrobe. But you'd need a pretty hefty bank balance and a quick clicking finger...the One in One Vintage also stands for One-off.

This Week...

06.05.2012
What I wore: Denim shirt & Scarf [H&M], Top, Vest & Leggings [New Look], Shoes [River Island], Necklace [Accessorize]
- Waiting for trains, living in my River Island boat shoes at the moment - Sunshine taunting me while doing essay work - My set up in the library: netbook, notes/books, Lucozade & iPod - Hitting just above word count & feeling epic - AVENGERS ASSEMBLE! - London in the rain on Friday - Train ride home after my interview - Pumped for Insurgent! - I love this quote from the start of the book too -

This is a very late evening post and I'm finishing the week off essay writing while catching up on The Apprentice. I've been all over the place this past week but the majority of my time has been holed up in my Uni library doing work. I did take a break to watch The Avengers on Tuesday evening, which was amazing! I'm such a nerd for a comic book movie ^_^ I also headed up to London for a pretty big interview, fingers crossed for me again guys! I've also started reading Insurgent by Veronica Roth, in between working. If you haven't read the first the trilogy, 'Divergent', pick it up and get on this quick. It's a really cool Hunger Games-esque series. My mind's really been away from blogging but once exams and the like are out of the way I'm sure I'll get my mojo back ;)

Got a craving for some sunshine: Sydney Fashion Week Inspiration

A quick post to share some photos I stumbled across between essay writing & Uni. Taken by Tommy Ton and were featured on Style.com, these sidewalk style photos from Sydney fashion week were enough to have me wishing the sun would come back to the UK. There's just so much colour! I love it!
